Ideally it'd be nice with the (will it ever get released) new Steam UI if they'd rebuild the overlay to be far less of a resource hog more like the regular one is, or how Game Bar doesn't work until summoned. Honestly the whole BPM view costs way too many resources for what it renders, be it overlay or the whole desktop Steam part.
Using steam controller wired Pc#
My current PC isn't having too much trouble with the BPM overlay but the old one really got it's performance wrecked by it and that may be part of why they're holding back on that, and I don't blame them. One thing I really respect about the Game Bar in particular is it uses absolutely 0 resources until it's summoned. Yeah I think this is why they made it the way they did is they wanted this to work this way having an overlay, and Steam just doesn't on everything and they didn't want to put one on everything yet. There is of course the popular Glosc app, although I haven't used it personally myself yet Every other launcher seems to have a reasonable work around that works (usually just launching the launcher with Steam without said launcher in the background then launching the game works) but it sounds like that's not reliable here. In the case that Epic's market share really picks up that's not a good thing for Steam or it's great controller tools and I really think it'd be great in general if Valve would improve the detection to not just go by the overlay.
Using steam controller wired software#
I've had Logitech Gaming Software for years that changes profiles based on what exe is in the foreground and it's irritates the piss out of me that Steam can't just do something that simple.īut yeah kinda discouraging to hear that Epic's launcher is doing this and I almost wonder if it's not intentionally made in a way to slight people using Valve's stuff since they've been so hostile. Honestly I wish Valve would just get better with this overall. Yeah I hope someone figures out a universal work around for this.
